Annabelle Chabauty and Eve Neiger are interning for the summer with the Weissman Preservation Center. Chabauty is a graduate student in photograph conservation from the Institut National du Patrimoine in Paris. She is working with WPC’s photograph conservator Elena Bulat on conservation treatments of daguerreotypes, panoramas, color slides and other archival collections. Neiger is a graduate student in information science at the University of Michigan School of Information. She is working with photograph cataloger Robert Burton on cataloging, identification and re-housing of historical photographs.
Christopher Erdmann, head librarian for the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, John G. Wolbach Library—along with Zenodo developer Lars Holm Nielsen, of CERN—won the award for best poster at OAI8 in Geneva (CERN workshop on Innovations in Scholarly Communication) for their poster on Zenodo. Zenodo is an open-access online repository that enables researchers, scientists, projects and institutions to share research results (data and publications) that are not part of existing institutional or subject-based repositories. Erdmann has worked for Harvard since 2010. He holds a BA in history from University of California, Davis and an MLIS from University of Washington.
Deborah Garson, librarian head of reference at Gutman Library, was awarded the Anne Galler Award for professional excellence at the Special Libraries Association’s annual conference in San Diego. Garson was a panelist for a presentation and discussion on embedded librarianship with David Shumaker, of Catholic University, and Geoff Walton, of Northumberland University. Garson joined the Harvard Library in1975. Her past positions at Gutman Library include reference librarian, senior cataloger and reference librarian and head of technical services. Garson holds an MLS from Simmons College and an MEd from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Juan Carlos Hincapie joined the Harvard Library as controller on July 22. He previously led the finance department for Harvard Medical School Continuing Education. Hincapie also worked in finance at Harvard Business School and the Graduate School of Education, as well as Dana Farber and Beth Israel. He has an MBA from Babson College, a BA from the University of Phoenix and a diploma from the Missionary Seminary of the Holy Spirit in Colombia.
