Clara Livingston (Livy) Bailin recently joined the Harvard Library as a conservation technician for special collections. Working with the Weissman Preservation Center, she will assist conservators in the treatment of rare books, photographs and works on paper. Bailin previously served as a technician at the Wellesley College Library, the Frick Art Reference Library and the Arkansas History Commission. She holds a BA in art history, with a minor in chemistry, from Wellesley College.
Heather Cristiano, Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) archivist and records management assistant at the Center for the History of Medicine, received a Sewell Stipend to attend the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting in November under the mentorship of an HSPH faculty member. This stipend is sponsored by the Grace and Harold Sewell Memorial Fund, which was established with the intention of increasing librarians' effectiveness in providing reliable and relevant information to public health professionals. Cristiano joined the Harvard Library in 2011. She holds an MLS from Simmons College and a BS from Suffolk University.
Andrea Goethals, manager of digital preservation and repository services, recently co-wrote the “Organizational Roles, Policies and Practices” section of the National Digital Stewardship Alliance’s (NDSA) inaugural National Agenda for Digital Stewardship. Harvard Library is a founding member of the NDSA, a consortium of more than 150 academic, government, nonprofit and commercial organizations that have demonstrated an active commitment to digital preservation. Goethals co-chairs the NDSA Standards and Practices Working Group and has worked for the Harvard Library since 2005. She holds a BA in architecture and MAs in urban and regional planning and computer science from the University of Florida.
