Behind the Glass at Cabot Library

Anu Vedantham, Director of Learning and Teaching Services, shares an update on Cabot Library.

Librarians visit Cabot during a hard hat tour.

As we wait eagerly for Cabot Science Library to re-open this spring, our working groups and staff are busy preparing programs and services. The visioning process has included several dozen staff from many libraries as well as our campus partners including Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT), Academic Technology for FAS, Instructional Media Services and the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning.

The new library will include two media studios, an Instruction Room to support active learning pedagogies, and a variety of spaces for in-person and online collaboration. Staff tours will be conducted regularly after March 20 with registration opening in early March.

On a hard-hat tour on Friday, February 3, a few of us stopped by the Consultation Room, affectionately named the "Ice Cube." Library staff will provide assistance by appointment here to help students and faculty move their research forward.
