Freshman Open House at Lamont

Harvard College Library will host its annual Freshman Open House at Lamont Library on Monday, August 29, from 1–3 pm.

Whether it’s to research an assignment or find a quiet study space, nearly all Harvard students find themselves using the libraries. The catch is that at Harvard there are more than 70 to choose from.

To ensure members of the Class of 2020 are familiar with the libraries they’re most likely to use during their freshman year, Harvard College Library will host its annual Freshman Open House on Monday, August 29, from 1–3 pm. Dubbed “Lamont & Beyond,” the event will be held in Lamont Library—a popular space on campus to pull an all-nighter, with round-the-clock hours and a café that’s open until 3 am.

The open house will include tours of Lamont, the chance to meet and talk with librarians from other libraries, information about library resources and services, and refreshments. Representatives from the Bureau of Study Counsel, which offers tutoring services to undergraduates, and the Language Resource Center, which assists students taking foreign-language courses, will also be on hand.

Students will be eligible to enter a raffle to win a grand prize of a pack that includes a Klean Kanteen water bottle, two tickets to the Museum of Science, two tickets to the New England Aquarium, two AMC Theatres movie passes, two Brattle Cinema passes, MBTA Charlie tickets, snacks for the road, and more. Six runner-up prizes, including a ukulele, 3D virtual reality glasses, and wireless sports headphones, will also be awarded.

Photos of the event will be posted here
