Update: Topics Raised at the Library All-Staff Meetings

November 19, 2013—At the September 18 Library All-Staff Meetings, the issue of possible understaffing in Access Services was raised. Below is a response from Matthew Sheehy, head of Access Services.

Working with staff members and library directors, Access Services continues to refine service expectations, workflows, use of student workers and staffing levels. This ongoing assessment is occurring as we simultaneously work to complete day-to-day tasks, which might mean we are feeling pressure to meet our users’ needs.

Access Services managers and library directors are planning to form a group that will specifically examine staffing levels. Library staff members will be invited to join this group—your participation will be essential to ensure that different perspectives are represented.
