Special Collections at Tozzer Library
Tozzer Library's special collections are open to all researchers. Search and request materials through HOLLIS, the library catalog. After submitting a request, you’ll need to schedule a separate appointment to view materials in our reading room. Please request items and make a reading room appointment at least 3 business days in advance of your visit.
Spaces at Tozzer Library
Tozzer Library offers open seating areas in our reading rooms, along with several spaces that can be reserved by Harvard faculty, staff, or students.
Group Study Rooms
There are two study rooms located in the basement, which sit 4–6 people and can be reserved up to three hours at a time.

Tozzer Library provides two study carrels for use by Harvard University Native American Program affiliates.

Seminar Room
This reservable space fits 8 around a group table and features a whiteboard, a projector, and charging stations.

Tozzer Library is Harvard University’s primary library for Indigenous studies, anthropology and archaeology, supporting research across all subfields of the discipline. Its collections span global cultures and histories, with particular depth in the archaeology and ethnography of the Americas.
With more than 250,000 volumes and extensive special collections — including field notes, manuscripts, photographs, and rare materials — Tozzer serves students, faculty, and researchers at Harvard and beyond. Founded in 1868, Tozzer Library is one of the oldest anthropology libraries in the world.
