Please contact the Archives prior to a research visit. A photo I.D. is necessary to enter the building. Patrons must register with the Archives. Materials may be restricted or stored off-site.

• Visual materials depicting Harvard buildings and people, including examples of early photography
History: • 17th to mid-19th centuries: records maintained by Harvard President, Treasurer, Fellows, and other officers
• 1851: records bound and library determined to be the proper place for university records
• 1939: Archives established by vote of the Harvard Corporation
• 1976: Archives moves to Pusey Library from Widener Library
Printed Guides & Catalogs:Printed shelflist volumes, collection inventories, and card indexes are available in the Archives' Reading Room.
Online Guides & Catalogs:70% of holdings are cataloged in HOLLIS
A small number of collection inventories are available online in OASIS
1% of holdings of photographs and other visual materials are digitized and cataloged in VIA.
