February 18, 2014—Choice, a publication of the American Library Association, named Open Access (MIT Press, 2012) by Peter Suber an Outstanding Academic Title for 2013. Suber is the director of the Harvard Office for Scholarly Communication and the Harvard Open Access Project at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society.
Choice editors applied the following criteria to make their selection:
- overall excellence in presentation and scholarship

In June 2013, the Harvard Library Board unanimously approved the report, Towards a Collections and Content Development Strategic Plan for the Harvard Library. Taking over a year to develop, this report represents the culmination of input from across the library. Recommendation 6 (on page 10) in the report states that:
"Every library, special collections, and archive will write and share collections and content development policies that will facilitate communication, coordination, and collaboration."
