Jim Borron, senior program manager, and Kira Poplowski, director of communications, presented “Under Pressure? Stop, Collaborate & Listen: Lessons Learned from a University-Wide Web Project” at the 2013 CIO Summit. The talk focused developing and launching the new Library portal.

Borron joined the Harvard Library in 2011 from the Harvard Business School. He has an MLIS from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, an MBA from the Warwick Business School at the University of Warwick in the UK...

July 30, 2013—"Stepping Stones for New Americans," at the Radcliffe Institute's Schlesinger Library showcases books, photographs, audiovisual materials and ephemera related to four Boston-area organizations founded to support new immigrants. The exhibit is a companion to Radcliffe’s conference "Gender and Immigration."

The organizations featured in the exhibit are Denison House, Window Shop, North Bennet Street Industrial School and the Lebanese Syrian Ladies' Aid Society—which together represented new Americans from countries such as Syria, Lebanon, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Greece and China. Dear Members of the Harvard Library Community,

I write to announce that Helen Shenton has decided to move on from the role of executive director of the Harvard Library in August 2013.

Since her recruitment to Harvard in 2010 from the British Library, Helen has played a key role in steering the Harvard Library through a complex and challenging transition, working to bring together more than 70 libraries across two campuses and ten schools in a new governance, funding and organizational model. Helen created a multi-disciplinary senior team, recruiting members from major institutions across the US. Together, they designed and created new services in Access Services, Information and Technical Services, Preservation, Conservation and Digital Imaging that took effect on August 1, 2012, when about half the 900...
