Collections

The collection consists of material from US and foreign governments as well as NGOs. It is especially strong in demography and population, history, international relations, international trade and the social sciences. See the Government Documents and Microforms Collections website.

VISITOR POLICIES

 
  • Visitor
  • For Harvard University ID holders, government documents held at the Harvard Depository can be requested via HOLLIS. Lamont Library or Widener Library can be selected as the pick-up location. Items held can be checked out for one-day, in-library access and can be requested for use for additional days.
    For non-Harvard-affiliated members of the public, requests for government documents held at the Harvard Depository can be made at Research Services in Lamont Library, or by contacting Government and Data Information Services staff via e-mail (govdocs@fas.harvard.edu) or at 617-495-2106. Requested items will be held at the Lamont Library Circulation Desk where they can be checked out using a Government Documents Access Card, which are available at the Privileges Office in Widener Library. Items held can be checked out for one-day, in-library access and can be requested for use for additional days.

 
 

ACCESSIBILITY

 
  • The Lamont building is wheelchair accessible by a ramp located to the left of the main entrance, near Quincy Street. There are two elevators: the east elevator services all floors of the library; the west elevator does not service the fourth floor.

    Many of the workstations in Research Services on Level B are wheelchair accessible. On the first floor, there is a workstation that accesses the Language Resource Center’s server. See Lamont Library Disability Services.
