The Gutman Library research collections includes books, journals, ERIC microfiche, media, electronic resources, and testing materials to support the teaching and research of the faculty and students of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and the greater Harvard community. Special Collections
Gutman Library’s Special Collections offers rich and varied resources for studying the history of elementary and secondary education in the United States. The holdings mainly consist of historical publications, including collections of textbooks, public school reports, and private school catalogs. Special Collections also holds the papers of educators and the records of several educational organizations.
Hours for the Special Collections reading room are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am-4:45 pm. Individuals interested in consulting any of the collections should contact us in advance to schedule an appointment for their research.

The Monroe C. Gutman Library is open to all members of the Harvard University Community and to Gutman Special Borrowers. Other scholars and researchers who have information needs within the scope of our collections may apply to use the library weekdays from 8:30am -5:00pm. The lobby and building entrances have automatic doors. Two interior elevators serve all floors of the building.
