Harvard Heroes 2014
Collaborative. Innovative. Resourceful. Inspiring.
These are a few of the characteristics of the remarkable employees celebrated by the Harvard Heroes staff recognition program. Harvard Heroes, begun in 1995, recognizes the vital contributions of our colleagues, many of whom work “behind the scenes” in support of the University’s mission. In line with this tradition, it is my pleasure to announce that the 2014 ceremony honoring the newest Harvard Heroes will be hosted by President Faust on Thursday, June 12 at 3:30 in Sanders Theatre (please save the date—all are invited, no tickets are needed).
An individual staff member can be nominated for the Harvard Heroes program through an online nomination process that runs from March 3–19. Now is the time to begin thinking about colleagues whom you may wish to nominate. Among the nominating criteria for Harvard Heroes are:
- Cumulative contribution
- Extraordinary one-time achievement
- Remarkable sacrifice for co-workers, department, or University
- Innovative ideas/transformational impact
- Making Harvard a great place to work, learn and teach
An email announcing the opening of the nomination process, with a link to the nomination form, will be sent to you on March 3. For details about Harvard Heroes, including a program overview and examples of successful past nominations, please visit HARVie’s Harvard Heroes page.
I hope you will take time to read the 2014 nomination and selection criteria and that the information will bring to mind someone who should be nominated. Please join us in applauding our 2014 Harvard Heroes on June 12 at Sanders Theatre.
