Access Information:The public may have access to the library, including the stacks, though borrowing privileges are extended only to holders of valid Harvard IDs.
Circulation Policy:Journals and reference materials do not circulate. Books circulate for 28 days and may be renewed by phone. Reserve material circulates during the day for in-library use until 4:00 PM. Reserve material may be borrowed for overnight use beginning at 4:00 PM and is due the next day within one hour of Library opening.
Holdings Description:Summary description of collection: Gordon McKay library supports current faculty research and graduate level instruction in the Division of Engineering and Applied Sciences.The collection consists of material in the fields of applied mathematics, applied physics, computer science, decision and control theory, electrical and mechanical engineering, environmental sciences, materials science, theoretical mechanics,water resources and systems design. DEAS publications and doctoral theses written by DEAS students are also collected. MATERIALS NOT HELD:Architectural engineering, aeronautics. McKay & Blue Hill Libraries together contain 111,500 volumes, 266,954 microforms and 4,000 Division reprints. The libraries currently receive 695 serials.
Services:INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES Informal point-of--use instruction is provided on request. INTERLIBRARY LOAN SERVICES ILL Lending (within Harvard): Gordon McKay Library lends all circulating materials and will provide photocopies to any Harvard library without charge. Materials are loaned for four weeks and may be renewed unless needed by another patron. ALA forms and fax requests are accepted. ILL Lending (outside Harvard): Gordon McKay Library lends all circulating items to any library outside of Harvard that provides an ALA form (via mail or fax) for each request. Materials are loaned for four weeks. Fees vary. ILL Borrowing: Gordon McKay Library will obtain material (books and photocopies)for members of the Division. There is no limit to the number of requests. Equipment and facilities available: Photocopier VHS player/recorder Microfiche reader/printer Cassette players
