Staff accomplishments for January 8, 2013.

Take Note shares professional news about Harvard Library staff members; it is published periodically on the Harvard Library portal. Have something to share? Please send it to Elizabeth Hedrick, communications officer.

Mary Jane Cuneo and Steven Riel

Mary Jane Cuneo, senior continuing resources cataloger, and Steven Riel, head of serials cataloging, were appointed to the RDA in Series Training Task Group of the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) Standing Committee on Training. The PCC is an international collaborative effort aimed at expanding access to library collections around the world. As members of the RDA Training Task Group, Cuneo and Riel are working with others to create two sets of training materials—one for trained catalogers who already create PCC series authority records and need to implement new cataloging standards (RDA), and another for catalogers learning to create PCC series authority records for the first time.

Cuneo has worked for the Harvard Library for 38 years. She has an MSLIS from Simmons and a BA from Middlebury College. Riel has been with the Harvard Library for 26 years. He holds an AB from Georgetown University, an MSLIS from Simmons and an MFA from New England College.

Gregory Eow

Gregory Eow was hired as Charles Warren Bibliographer for American History. He will begin on April 1, 2013.

Eow comes from Yale University and served most recently as the Kaplanoff Librarian for American, British and Commonwealth History at the Yale University Library. He served previously as associate director of collection development, a position charged with creating a centralized procurement model for the purchase of digital resources for the Yale Library system. Eow earned a PhD in 20th-century US intellectual history at Rice University and an MLIS, with a concentration in archives, from the University of Pittsburgh.

Tracey Robinson

Tracey Robinson was appointed managing director of Library Technology Services (LTS), part of Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT). She joined Harvard as a systems librarian and later served as program manager for production services for library systems and then head of the Office for Information Systems (predecessor of LTS). Robinson holds a BA from Bucknell and an MLS from Drexel, and also held a library internship at Iowa State University.
