Records Management Services assists with transfers to the Archives
If you are a department administrator, you may be responsible for the record copies of undergraduate honors theses submitted by students. Do you know that the Harvard University Archives is the official repository for these works? The Archives accepts magna cum laude and summa cum laude undergraduate theses, as well as ALM theses and theses for other terminal masters degrees.
Records Management Services staff facilitate the transfer of theses and dissertations from departmental offices to the Archives. As you prepare for the upcoming academic year, consider transferring this year’s (and/or previous year’s) theses to the Archives this summer. For transfer instructions, see our website.
Theses in the Archives’ collections date from the late 18th century to the present, and all are cataloged in HOLLIS. From Richard Codman’s 1782 Projection of a Solar Eclipse, to An Integrated Model for Energy Policy, Ben Bernanke's 1975 undergraduate thesis, these works help to document the history of scholarship at Harvard and reflect educational trends, scientific research, and developments in many fields of study.
Please note that Records Management Services also oversees the transfer of University records to the Archives, including student records, recordings of seminars and lectures, syllabi, and department websites.
