Update on Approaching Storm

Dear colleagues,

Please see a note below from Harvard’s Campus Services regarding a storm approaching Eastern and Southeastern New England. Heavy rain and winds are expected.


Weather hazards are expected for the upcoming storm. Here are the highlights:

Strong and gusty winds:
Gusts up to 50 mph will be possible, mainly around midday Wednesday across portions of Eastern and Southeastern New England. Wind advisories and gale warnings posted.

Heavy rain:
Storm total accumulations of 2 to 3 inches will be possible across Western and Central portions of New England, with locally higher amounts. Rain totals could all fall within a 6-hour window on Wednesday.

Flooding:
Mainly urban and poor drainage, especially where leaves clog drains.

Winter weather:
A wintry mix is possible beginning around midnight Wednesday into Wednesday morning for Northern and Western Massachusetts, as well as Southern New Hampshire. Accumulation of around an inch is possible in spots. Hazardous and slippery travel will be possible during the Wednesday morning commute.
