We have resumed some on-campus services, including book pickup, virtual consultations, and fulfilling scanning/digitization requests. Many library materials are available online, but our buildings remain closed until further notice.

The Unabridged 2021 Program will meet online, Tuesdays through Thursdays, over two weeks: January 12-14 and January 19-21, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm (Eastern Time).

“I learned several new things every day. As a mentor, I found the information to be especially useful. I will definitely be passing on things I learned to others who weren’t present. There will undoubtedly be a contagion effect – for good.”

Unabridged is a multi-day library master class for GSAS and DCE graduate students, and is currently offered during January@GSAS. Designed to lay the groundwork for an entire research career, Unabridged helps you become more effective, resourceful, and creative. This intensive program features a host of experts from across the university, offering a multi-disciplinary perspective on research practices.

Unabridged focuses on concepts as much as currently relevant tools and encourages you to learn through hands-on activities. Our holistic approach helps you develop strategies that are adaptable and enduring.

You can expect to:

  • Navigate complex research environments
  • Organize your research in intellectually productive ways
  • Optimize your search strategies
  • Manage your scholarly persona and negotiate with publishers

See our Canvas course website for more details and course materials.

Unabridged is primarily for graduate degree candidates in FAS (GSAS or Harvard Extension School), including those in PhD programs offered jointly between GSAS and one of the professional schools.

All other applicants—including visiting scholars, special students, post-docs, FAS staff, and Harvard students from outside FAS—will be placed on a waiting list and notified close to the workshop date if a spot has opened up.

Application opens October 1st.

Priority is given to applications received by October 31st, but applications are accepted on a rolling basis if there is room on the wait list.
