Catalogue of the contents of the house of the late W. Makepeace Thackeray, esq. (London: Christie, Manson, & Woods, 1864).

When Thackeray died intestate, his friends rallied to help Anny and Minny. They sold the mansion at Palace Green, along with furnishings and Thackeray’s library. The results of the sale of their father’s books, furniture, and wine brought Thackeray’s daughters over three thousand pounds, and the estate itself was valued at such a large sum that they were able to buy a small house of their own at 8 Onslow Gardens. They moved there with their grandmother, who died a year after her son.
