Edited by William Gifford, this volume collects the satiric and parodic verse that appeared in the Anti-Jacobin, a newspaper founded by Tory statesman and future Prime Minister George Canning (1770-1827). Canning’s parody “New Morality” seeks a restoration of traditional British values while criticizing radical poets such as Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Robert Southey, Charles Lloyd, and Charles Lamb.
