Music manuscript by Manuel de Falla for the ballet El Corregidor y la Molinera
The title of this work, first performed in 1917, is translated as The Magistrate and the Miller’s Wife. The story itself—about a preposterous official who attempts to seduce a Miller’s Wife—has been adapted many times in Spain, including as the basis of several films. Diaghilev prevailed upon de Falla to adapt this work as the ballet Le Tricorne. |
