Le Sacre de Printemps
The revolutionary ballet Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring), whose first performance in Paris in 1913 occasioned a famous riot in the audience, was a collaboration between composer Igor Stravinsky, choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky, and designer Nicholas Roerich. After seven performances of Le Sacre du Printemps in its initial season, it was not performed ever again with Vaslav Nijinsky’s original choreography. Beginning in 1920 it was performed for a further 23 performances, but with new choreography by Massine.
