The only entry for the last three weeks of July are the two final stanzas from a poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, "To J. S." (1832), an elegy for Edward, the brother of Tennyson's close friend James Spedding. Fanny Longfellow had died on 10 July 1861. |
