La Pastorale
The ballet La Pastorale was a choreographic invention of the young George Balanchine - a failure in Paris but a success in London, following some doctoring by Diaghilev. With a commissioned score by George Auric and designs by Pedro Pruna, its première took place in Paris in 1927.
This photograph shows several of the principal dancers, Tamara Geva, Lubov Tchernicheva, Alice Nikitina, and Alexandra Danilova, with Serge Lifar (as the Telegraph Boy) in front. |
