La Chatte
The 1927 ballet La Chatte (The Cat, or more literally, The She-Cat) starred Serge Lifar as the Young Man and Olga Spessivtzeva and Alicia Nikitina in the title role. The ballet was choreographed by George Balanchine, to a commissioned score by Henri Sauguet. One of the notable features of this ten-minute piece was the design (billed as “architecture and sculpture”) by the avant-garde artists Naum Gabo and Antoine Pevsner. |
