Mercure Mercure (Mercury), a ballet described as “poses plastiques,” had originally resulted from a collaboration between Picasso and Léonide Massine, not at first for performance by Diaghilev’s company, but rather for the “Soirées de Paris” of the Comte Étienne de Beaumont, presented at the Théâtre de la Cigale, Paris, on June 15, 1924. It was included in the Ballets Russes repertory in 1927, for only five performances. |
