December 10, 2013—Harvard Library holiday e-cards featuring images from Harvard collections are now available on the Harvard Library portal.

This beta project incorporates six beautiful images from three Harvard Library repositories on free Harvard Library e-cards. The e-cards, which can be personalized, are available to anyone with access to the Harvard Library portal, and can be sent to any email address.

In addition to an image from a collection, each e-card includes an optional personal message, a brief description of the image, a link to the catalog entry and a link to the e-cards landing page.

Today’s light snow/sleet will transition to freezing rain or just rain nearer the coast by mid-morning and will linger into the afternoon.  

Tomorrow, some snowfall (approaching 3") is possible especially south of the Mass Pike. The snow is expected to start mid-morning and continue into the late afternoon.  Exact totals and locations are still uncertain.

A message from Matthew Sheehy, head of Access Services:

This week we will launch the first phase of the intra-library delivery service we have branded “Harvard Direct.” Patrons will be able to request books from Countway, Law and Widener for delivery to any library that receives five-day-per-week HUMS service, including the owning library. Those libraries include: Andover-Harvard, Baker, Cabot, Countway, Fine Arts, Gutman, Harvard-Yenching, Kennedy School, Lamont, Law, Loeb Design, Loeb Music, Tozzer, Widener, and Wolbach. 

The launch will be in two phases: HOLLIS Classic will show “Request Item” links for the appropriate material starting around 4:30 pm on December 5th. In the early morning of December 9th, those same links will appear in HOLLIS.

Knowledge and Library Services is pleased to announce the opening of The Art of American Advertising, 1865–1910, an exhibition and website organized by Baker Library Historical Collections. The exhibition will run through April 5, 2014 in the North Lobby, Baker Library/Bloomberg Center, Harvard Business School.
