Johnson was buried a week following his death in Poets' Corner at Westminster Abbey, the final resting place for many of England's greatest writers. The service was performed by his boyhood friend, the Rev. John Taylor. The Executors of the late Dr. Samuel Johnson request the favor of your attendance on Monday next... at his late dwelling house in Bolt Court Fleet Street to accompany the corpse from thence to Westminster Abbey. |
