The Christopher B. Donnan and Donna McClelland Moche archive, held by the Dumbarton Oaks Research Library, features drawings which reproduce decorations on vessels from the Moche culture (AD 200-900), one of the first complex societies of the North Coast of Peru.

Although they did not practice a system of writing, Moche "fineline" art was rendered in a realistic style, offering insight into Pre-Columbian daily life, narrative myth, and ritual tradition.
