The Fine Arts Library is hosting an exhibition of a facsimile scroll of "Night Revels of Han Xizai (韩熙载夜宴图)"

The work reproduces the historical scene of Southern Tang Minister Han Xizai's evening banquet. It shows the host and guests, singing and dancing, laughter and joy, as well as the protagonist's detachment and a sense of gloom.

 The whole picture is divided into five sections:

  • listening to music
  • watching dancers
  • relaxing
  • playing string instruments
  • seeing guests off 

The painter, Gu Hongzhong drew a screen each section in order to create a continuous picture for viewers.
