Houghton's History of Ideas Case showcases scientific conversations around the earliest work on artificial neural networks, which eventually led to the development of the generative artificial intelligence (AI) with which we are familiar today. The case displays papers on the theory behind computer chips, the mathematical models that drive neural networks, and the possibility of machine learning—as well as a study that laid bare these ideas' limitations.
