At a time when the life cycle of butterflies was poorly understood, pioneering scientist and artist Maria Sibylla Merian (1647–1717) documented their metamorphosis in detail. This exhibition showcases original images from her 1679 book, The Wondrous Transformation of Caterpillars and their Remarkable Diet of Flowers.
