April Duclos
April (she/her) is the Harvard Depository Resource Sharing Manager at Harvard University, a role she has served in since September 2021. In this role, she oversees resource sharing operations at the offsite Harvard Depository location, leading a team of 4 staff. Her responsibilities include oversight and consultancy of access services at Harvard Depository. Among with her core duties, she manages several projects:
- Consortia lending: Resource Sharing circulation of materials for consortia members through multiple lending programs including Interlibrary Loan, SCSB, and Borrow Direct.
- Harvard & consortia scanning: Provide consistent high-quality article/chapter scanning of resources in a variety of formats and conditions, and triage reference requests (such as for poor citations) for Harvard patrons and patrons in locations worldwide.
- JSTOR dark archive & scanning: Prepare and store materials for JSTOR’s dark archive, fill requests for missing/replacement scans, and participate in the workflow for scans of whole issues/volumes to fill gaps in JSTOR’s online collection.
She is currently a co-chair of the Fulfillment Working Group, a member of the Access Services Extended Leadership Team (ELT), and is actively involved in the Trauma Informed Librarianship Committee. Through this platforms, she brainstorms and advocates for the creation and improvement upon existing inclusive, safe, thoughtfully considered environments for all Harvard Library staff and patrons.
She joined Harvard in 2005, starting as a library assistant for the JSTOR Dark Archive project. She graduated with a Master of Library Science from Simmons University and a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages from St. Lawrence University.
