Jessica Rogers-Cerrato
I am the Special Collections Librarian & Archivist at the Monroe C. Gutman Library. As an archivist, I have a proven track record of contributing to shared institutional goals while employing multiple tools, platforms, and standards, to promote equitable access and create engaging description. My pedagogical interests include learning communities, interdisciplinary inclusive pedagogy, scaffolded curriculum, project-based learning, and a good case study, while my critical work focuses on information literacy, archives pedagogy, decolonizing archival description, diasporic archives, and the outrider tradition of poetry.
Prior to my work as an archivist, I taught writing and literature at various colleges and universities for over a decade. As an instructor, I collaborated extensively within learning communities, developing thematically linked courses to promote interdisciplinary study, and I began my career in academia as a literacy research fellow working in Writing Centers and teaching in pre-college programs for English language learners.
