Peter X. Accardo

Peter X. Accardo has been a member of the Houghton Library staff since 1985. He began his career as a bibliographic assistant responsible for reporting library holdings to ESTC. In 1986 he cataloged books printed between the 16th and 20th centuries in the bequest of Philip Hofer. As Acquisitions Bibliographer, he assisted the Curator of Rare Books in identifying and acquiring new material for the library. As a Technical Services staff member, he took on cataloging and project management roles. He currently serves as Houghton's Scholarly and Public Programs Librarian, reporting to Anne-Marie Eze, Associate Librarian for Collections and Programs. In addition to his regular duties, he is an adjunct in Public Services division with teaching and reading room assignments. He has curated major exhibitions on Byron, Ruskin, and Arthur Conan Doyle, and acted as an advisor on the physical and online exhibition Boston's Crusade Against Slavery, curated by Professor John Stauffer and his students. 

Accardo has published on subjects relating to historical bibliography. His current projects include a history of the Treasure Room in Widener Library and the first biography of the American Sherlockian H. W. Bell.
