A Widener Welcome

Portraits of Harvard's new faculty members brighten the first floor of Widener Library.

Each year, new faculty members step into the classroom and take their place in Harvard history. They’ll often see portraits of professors from hundreds of years ago adorning the walls around campus. Now, on the first floor of Widener Library, they can see themselves.

Harvard Library has created a portrait gallery to celebrate and welcome new faculty faces joining Harvard this academic year. Faculty attended a celebration event to launch the gallery on January 30, many snapping photos next to their official portraits and getting to know one another.

The gallery features portraits of new faculty from across Harvard College and the professional schools.
