New Harvard Library Website Launches

Harvard Library on Tuesday unveiled a redesigned website aimed at making it easier for users to discover and access its vast array of resources and services.

The new site, built on the Library’s existing Drupal platform, draws on years of user research and analytics gathered since the previous version launched in 2018. The update reflects a deeper understanding of how students, faculty, and researchers navigate the Library’s vast digital ecosystem.

Among the improvements are streamlined navigation, updated search functionality, and a refreshed visual design that highlights the Library’s open-access collections and services. The redesign also strengthens pathways to individual libraries across Harvard’s system, helping users connect with specialized resources and expertise.

The project was developed in partnership with Lullabot, which worked with Harvard Library to evolve its design system and introduce new features that improve both the user experience and the content editing process. Staff from across the Library contributed to the effort, from research and strategy to content creation and testing.

Serving as the digital front door to Harvard’s multi-library system, the website supports research, teaching, and learning across the University, while also welcoming a global audience interested in exploring Harvard Library’s collections and public programs.
