Untitled (Newspaper) no. 1, July 1968 (reprinted compilation volume, March 2023 by Primary Information)
Artists’ magazines and newspapers are often referred to as alternative spaces for art. In the first of a series of displays, we feature a selection of publications from the 1960s and 1970s that explore the possibilities of self-publishing as a site for experimental creative practice, critical discourse, and alternative distribution models. Alongside preserved original copies are later reprints brought back into circulation as the impact of the work came to be more fully seen. Inspiration for this display came from Salad Days: Primary Information at the Carpenter Center from June 18—August 16, 2026.
