Abby Elizabeth Conway

Senior Web Strategy Lead

Abby is a digital strategist and content designer. As the Senior Web Strategy Lead on the Communications team, she’s guiding the library through the process of imagining and building the next iteration of library.harvard.edu.

This isn’t her first stint at Harvard Library. Abby was a member of the team that launched library.harvard.edu in 2018. As the content strategist on the project, she managed the transformation of 6,000+ URLs across two dozen websites into a single, user-centered platform, including structuring and designing the key content types that still power the website today.

During her time away from the library, Abby spent five years at Upstatement, a digital design studio based in Boston. There she led teams in shaping and building digital experiences and products for a range of clients. Some of her favorite projects included helping America’s oldest public arboretum better serve its visitors, creating a framework for nonprofits to measure their data skills, and developing a tool to illustrate the impact of local gun laws.

Abby started her career as a journalist in newsrooms around Boston, managing a daily news homepage, running social media accounts, and writing and editing countless new stories. She contributed to digital coverage of many major events, including the Boston Marathon bombing and the collapse of MBTA service during the winter of 2015.

Abby is also an amateur baker, avid reader, competent crafter, mediocre runner, and loyal collector of quotes. She loves a good hairpin turn.
