Gerald Walden
As a member of the Metadata Management and Project Strategy team at Harvard ITS, I divide my time between ongoing support for "dataloads" workflows, and a host of technical services projects and activities. On a daily basis I am involved in configuring and troubleshooting of EDI and EOD processes and the related mechanics of Alma import and acquisitions profiles, as well as E-Resources maintenance. Project work includes designing reports and dashboards in Analytics and HART, writing and maintaining project and workflow documentation, and consulting on/contributing to a wide variety of metadata projects and ITS community activities.
My workplace skills and interests include coding, technology and data analysis using tools such as Python, Open Refine, Excel/Google Sheets, HTML5/Javascript. I am also experienced with technical services workflows relating to acquisitions and copy cataloging. I enjoy acting as a resource to others, supporting them in their own learning journeys and generally de-mystifying technology and the jargon that surrounds it. I love nothing more than being given a problem to solve and the freedom to apply creative thinking to come up with the best possible solution, either on my own or as part of a smart and motivated team.
In addition to my years of experience in library technical services, I have a BA in Sociology from the University of Minnesota, and a professional Graduate Certificate in Web Technologies from Harvard University in Extension.
